Hey everyone, let's kick things off with a little warm-up! Take a look at the animal silhouettes on the page. Can you name them? What do you think they all have in common?

Now, remember how we've been learning about different climate zones on Earth? We talked about the Torrid Zone near the Equator, which is super hot. Well, today we're diving into the opposite: the Frigid Zones, also called the Polar Regions. These are the areas way up north and way down south, near the North and South Poles.

What makes them special? Well, they're the coldest regions on Earth and are usually covered in ice and snow all year round. You can see on the map where these zones are located—notice how they circle the very top and bottom of the globe. Countries like Greenland, Norway and Finland all experience the effects of the Frigid Zone. Let's explore more about what life is like in these icy environments.

Before we continue, a little something to think about: Do you think the Frigid Zone gets more or less sunlight compared to the Torrid Zone? And why do you think that is? Also, which parts of India do you think experience snow in winter?
